Rocky Mountain Deaf School (RMDS) is a bilingual charter school located in the shadow of the beautiful Colorado Rocky Mountains in Golden, Colorado.   This high performing school is founded on the belief that deaf children can and should succeed. Early Childhood Teacher

Job Description & Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
•M.A degree in Deaf Education
•Must be able to obtain appropriate Colorado Teaching License
   - Deaf and hard of hearing and Early Childhood Education Endorsements
•Qualify for Director of a Small Child Care Center under Colorado Child Care Licensing
•Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL)
•Proficient in written English skills
•Experience working with Deaf children
•Knowledge of Deaf bilingual education

Preferred Qualifications:
•Experience in student assessments, including play based assessments
•Knowledge of child development
•Knowlege of developmentally appropriate practices for early childhood education
•Knowledge of language acquisition strategies for bilingual children
•Ability to record skills/development through informal observations and anecdotal records.

Overall Responsibilities:
Organize, evaluate, plan and implement a program of meaningful instruction to students by following RMDS curriculum, philosophy and teaching guidelines, and carry out other assigned related duties necessary to the successful operation of the school.

Duties will include, but not limited to:
•Assist in the development of a program and curriculum consistent with the school’s philosophy

•Plan for and implement bilingual teaching strategies in daily classroom instruction.

•Promote literacy, high expectations and world knowledge as defined by the school’s Educational Philosophy, Vision, and Credo

•Provide for a system of continuous evaluation of pupil progress consistent with established instructional objectives and school policy by using a variety of assessment techniques, such as informal and formal methods and portfolio assessment.

•Provide informal and formal assessments, writing present levels and goals and objectives for IEP’s

•Apply a wide variety of instructional techniques, curriculum, student-centered learning, cooperative learning, and modifying instructional media  applicable to individuals or groups.

•Develop and maintain a class environment conducive to effective learning.

•Maintain lesson pans and keep accurate records as required.

•Use a variety of effective classroom management techniques.

•Work as a team member of the staff
