TEACHER OPENINGS
Rocky Mountain Deaf School (RMDS) is a bilingual charter school located in the shadow of the beautiful Colorado Rocky Mountains in Golden, Colorado. This high performing school is founded on the belief that deaf children can and should succeed. The driving force behind the school is a theme of excellence in research-based academic programs. Each student's potential is maximized as teachers continue to instill in each child the joy of living and learning.
We are recruiting for these fall 2008 vacancies at this time:
- ECE Deaf Ed Teacher
- Elementary Deaf Ed Teacher
- Middle School Teacher
- Speech and Language Pathologist (SLP)
Teaching responsibilities include:
- planning, implementing and researching effective instructional practices that maximize student learning
- Provide for a system of continuous evaluation of student progress consistent with established instructional objectives and school policy by using a variety of assessment techniques
- Apply a wide variety of instructional techniques, including student-centered learning, cooperative learning, and instructional media to promote learning.
- Develop and maintain a class environment conducive to effective learning.
- Serve as an active member of our professional learning community. collaborating with other educators on teams to provide an effective instructional program;
- Communicate often with families regarding student progress
- Maintain professional growth
- Engage in action research for continuous improvement of instruction.
REQUIREMENTS:
RMDS Early Childhood Education Teacher requirements:
- A Master’s degree in Deaf Education, Special Education/Multiple Disabilities or Early Childhood Education.
- Colorado Standard or Provisional Certification in Early Childhood Education required by the first day of work.
RMDS Elementary Teacher requirements:
- a Master’s degree in Deaf Education, Education, Special
Education/Multiple Disabilities or Elementary Education
- Colorado Standard or Provisional Certification in Elementary Education with Deaf Education endorsement required by the first day of work.
RMDS Middle School Teacher requirements:
- a Master’s degree in Deaf Education, Education, Special Education/Multiple Disabilities or Content Area
- Colorado Standard or Provisional Certification in Elementary Education with Deaf Education endorsement required by the first day of work.
Plus (for all regular status teaching jobs):
- Teaching experience in the content area for which you are applying; knowledge and experience in innovative teaching practices; planning, implementing and researching units of instruction, projects and daily lesson plans.
- Experience in teaching multi-level groups of students.
- Excellent command of written English required
- Fluency in American Sign Language required
Other Information: Applicants selected for interviews will create a writing sample and teach a lesson in an actual classroom.
Appointment/Salary begins August 7, 2008.
Salary is commensurate with educational degree and experience.
